Skull Buttons for Pocket Book Slippers

I've been doing a bit of winter knitting and decided to add some decorative buttons to jazz things up a bit. I used STAEDTLER Fimo soft in black to make basic flat backed skull shapes. I poked holes where the eye sockets would be and baked them according to pack instructions. After they cooled I gave the high points of each button a dusting of silver paint.

A quick bow and voila...... an adorable, uniquely yours pair of pocket book slippers.

My pattern is handed down and very simple.

Worsted weight yarn about 75 grams
4.5 mm knitting needles

Cast on 5 stitches
knit five rows
increase last stitch in each of the next rows until you have fifteen stitches
increase each stitch in the next row(You will have thirty stitches)
continue in knit two, pearl two pattern for 5 inches
reverse the whole thing decreasing until you are back down to five stitches.

Sew the five stitch ends together and the heel and toe sections need to be sewn up.

add decorations and enjoy warm tootsies!

I've also been enjoying quite allot of this lately.

How's your post Holiday winter going?
